Christmas Market in Savannah Georgia

Oh, friends, let me tell you about the most magical little adventure I just had! As you know, I’ve been settling into life here in Lafayette, but something kept tugging at my heart—Savannah. After all, 11 years in the Hostess City of the South leaves its mark, and I finally gave in to the urge to visit. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect because Savannah’s Christmas Market at Plant Riverside was calling my name like a twinkling siren.

Savannah is the oldest city in the U.S. state of Georgia and is the county seat of Chatham County

Picture this: cobblestone streets lit up with festive lights, a crisp breeze carrying the scent of cinnamon and pine, and the sound of holiday music mingling with the soft hum of the Savannah River. That’s Plant Riverside for you during the holidays. It’s like stepping into a Hallmark movie, but better because it’s real and comes with pralines.

I’d heard about the market from a friend who practically squealed when she told me about it. “You have to come! They’ve got everything: crafts, music, and this mulled wine that’ll make you believe in Santa again.” How could I resist?

The market itself is a dream. Rows of adorable wooden chalets line the riverfront, each one packed with handmade treasures. There were ornaments carved from driftwood, candles that smell like a holiday hug, and scarves so soft they’d make cashmere jealous. My absolute favorite find? A little ceramic oyster shell nativity scene. It’s quirky, it’s coastal, and it’s going on my mantel this year.

And the food! Oh my goodness, the food. I made a beeline for a booth serving warm, buttery pretzels and a steaming cup of hot cocoa topped with a mountain of whipped cream. I felt like a kid again, except this time, I also tried the mulled wine. (Spoiler: my friend was right. It’s Christmas in a cup!)

But the real highlight of the trip? Catching up with a few dear friends. We laughed, we reminisced, and we may or may not have taken way too many selfies in front of the giant Christmas tree. It was one of those soul-nourishing evenings that remind you why you’re grateful for the people in your life.

Now, I’ll admit, coming back to Savannah after moving away was a little bittersweet. But being at the Christmas Market reminded me that places, just like people, hold on to their magic. And sometimes, revisiting those magical spots can feel like wrapping yourself in a cozy, familiar blanket.

If you’re anywhere near Savannah this season, do yourself a favor and check out the Plant Riverside Christmas Market. It’s the perfect way to soak up the holiday spirit—and maybe pick up a few unique gifts (or just treat yourself; I won’t judge!). And if you’re lucky, you’ll leave with your hands full and your heart even fuller, just like I did.

So, what’s the holiday market scene like where you are? Let me know—I’m always on the hunt for my next festive adventure! And if you’re planning a trip to Savannah, hit me up for tips. I might even join you. After all, the mulled wine’s not going to drink itself.
