Snow in Louisiana?

Snow in Louisiana? Say what?

Tuesday morning greeted us with a pleasant surprise—a warning of blizzard conditions and the rare yet beautiful sight of snowfall.

And y’all, this wasn’t just a few flurries. We’re talking about real, heavy, deep snow! If you’re from the northern part of the U.S., you might be rolling your eyes, but let me explain—this kind of winter weather is unheard of in the South.

So be nice and let us enjoy our moment. 😊

Sipping Hot Chocolate and Soaking It All In

Well, you know I had to celebrate the occasion with a mug of my favorite hot chocolate. I mean, there’s no other way to sit back and watch the world slowly turn into a southern winter wonderland, is it?

I was in awe.

Snow has a way of making everything look fresh and new. I didn’t care about the soon-to-be icy roads or the inconvenience of being stuck inside. I just wanted to soak up the beauty of it all.

A Reminder of God’s Grace

There’s something about seeing the south covered in white—it feels like a gentle reminder that God can do anything, right?

The Bible says in Isaiah 1:18, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” As I watched the snowfall, I couldn’t help but think about God’s grace.

When we repent, He covers us, makes us new, and gives us second chances—no matter what we’ve done.

I, for one, am so thankful for His mercy because He’s forgiven me more times than I can count.

SNOW IN LOUISIANA

Snow in Louisiana Doesn’t Last Long

On the other hand, as much as the snow’s beauty mesmerized me, by the end of day two, I was more than ready for it to go away.

After that first night, the snow started melting, only to refreeze into patches of black ice. With state officials urging everyone to stay indoors, we didn’t hesitate to listen.

Eventually, the temperatures rose into the 40s and 50s, and the snow and ice gradually melted away. Bit by bit, the neighborhood’s color returned, and life in Louisiana settled back to normal.

SNOW IN LOUISIANA

Finding Beauty in the Unexpected

Louisiana may not be built for snow, but these rare moments remind us of something bigger: even in the coldest, most unexpected seasons, there is grace, and a light waiting to shine through.

The snow gave us a reason to pause, soak up the moment, and appreciate the simple things we often overlook—beauty, stillness, and rest.
